My Story

My name is Keliah Smith, and I am the CEO, Founder & Illustrator behind the brand! I am a mother of two beautiful children ---my twins, John and Jade. I took my leap in 2021, just after the Pandemic to become full time, after doing it alongside my day job for 3 years. Over the last 7 years, I've created a brand and story created to celebrate, empower & heal through my beautiful signature products. A journey that began in 2016 from a down spiraling moment that allowed me to tap back into a long, childhood passion of drawing that I had put down over 20 years prior. 

I had hit rock bottom.

After a slew of "hard balls" of life had come fast pace at a moment when everything seemed to hit at once, I hit rock bottom.

It was during a moment when I became a single mother with twins after the separation of their father and me. In the same breath, I had lost my job, my car, having to move in with family, amongst losing a sense of hope, a sense of identity, feeling isolated, empty, low self-confidence, feeling like a failure. 

I had hit an all-time LOW. 

It was then, that I began to draw again after not having drawn for almost 20 years. Drawing became a sense of peace and serenity I hadn't felt in a long, long time. It became my therapy and, in a sense, saving me from the world that was collapsing around me. It was a light in what felt like an unfamiliar dark alley. So, I had an urge to draw what I wanted so badly to feel, but didn't: brown skinned women who were beautiful, adorned in crowns. Royalty. Divine.... with big fros and curls, contrary to how I felt, which was unpretty, unseen & unappreciated.

Doodling as an escape from my reality slowly transformed into a business idea with the encouragement of my Mother, who took notice and gave me the push I needed to believe it could actually work. 

I've been drawing, writing and creating since 2016 and truly feel I am walking in my purpose. I'm a firm believer that sometimes life's hardships and experiences thrown our way, aren't necessarily designed or sent to push us down, but to push us in the right direction. It's a slight nudge to awaken us to the path we are destined to be, helping to inspire, heal and awaken others to their purpose in the process.
